Zero code egress
Zero code egress describes a developer tool that never sends source code outside the developer's machine or the organization's boundary. It is a design property, not a regulatory term. It matters most where policy restricts where code may go, such as classified and air-gapped environments, or where an organization chooses not to share code with a third-party service. Offering AI features with zero code egress requires local inference or on-premise model hosting.
